Lake Lavon Boat Ramps: Where to Launch Your Boat

Where Can You Launch Your Boat on Lake Lavon

Lake Lavon boat ramp

It’s early morning in Collin County, and the day is just starting to peak on the horizon over the glassy waters of Lake Lavon. Your boat is secured to the trailer, gear is loaded onto the vessel, and the cooler is packed for a day of adventure. So your next question is: where should you launch?

Lake Lavon has several public access areas with convenient boat ramps–some offer year-round access, while others are seasonal or follow specific park hours. Most boat ramps are run by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, while a few are privately operated by businesses like Collin Park Marina. Each boat ramp differs by the number of launching lanes, courtesy docks, fees, and proximity to certain parts of the lake.

Choosing the Right Lake Lavon Boat Ramp

The most convenient boat ramp depends on your specific requirements for location, arrival time, vessel size, and any nearby facilities. When choosing a Lake Lavon boat ramp, you should consider:

  • Check the ramp size and dock access – Depending on your vessel size and whether it’s a busy weekend or holiday, a bigger ramp may offer an easier launch, while you may need a courtesy dock if you are loading a lot of passengers. Smaller ramps without a courtesy dock may suit experienced boaters or smaller groups better.
  • Confirm fees, hours, and seasonal availability – Some boat ramps on Lake Lavon are free and open year-round, while others require entrance or access fees or operate only at specific times.
  • Look at what is available beyond the ramp – It’s best practice to plan accordingly, and choose a boat ramp that has the amenities you may need during the day. Some boat ramps offer ample parking, restrooms, marina services, and even nearby camping.

Finally, always check current lake levels and any closures before heading out for the day. Conditions such as flooding, low water levels, or routine maintenance can temporarily affect ramps that may normally be open year-round. Once you’ve weighed your options, boaters can narrow down a list of Lake Lavon access points that are the best fit for your adventure!
